Provincial Grand Lodge of Dorset

The official website of Dorset Freemasonry

Welcome to Amphibious Lodge

We are one of the forty nine lodges which make up the Province of Dorset. We meet in Wimborne, just one of the seventeen meeting venues across the county.

Amphibious is a Lodge with a strong services background, you'll notice our banner is based on the combined services banner. We warmly welcome anyone interested in finding out more about Freemasonry and of course visiting Brethren from other lodges, to get in touch.

For more details on meeting dates, times, etc, take a look at 'Our meeting dates at a glance' in the information bar on the right of this page or email

Social media is growing stronger than ever

As well as our presence here on the Lodge MIDAS website, we also have a very successful Twitter account and now Facebook too! Our Twitter account is fast approaching 1,500 followers and growth on Facebook is steadily going up as well.

We want to spread our news as far and wide as possible, not only to other masons but to the general public so if you visit either Twitter or Facebook please drop by and give us a like or follow. more...

Do you know in a few days time it'll be August, where does the time go! That means there's only a few weeks before our Installation meeting at the beginning of September. Here are a few facts about August from our friends at Wikipedia, just in case you didn't know.

August is the eighth month of the year in the Julian and Gregorian calendars, and the fifth of seven months to have a length of 31 days. more...

The challenge is made!

Well we've taken that big step and thrown down the gauntlet (we suppose it should be a white glove really) to all other Lodges in Dorset, particularly Kinson Lodge 5331.

We're going to enter the Great Dorset Masonic Raft Race next year and intend on winning that pesky trophy! There was a bit of a mix up this year with age restrictions for competitors, but that's all sorted out now and we're hard at work mustering up our crack team of intrepid rowers. more...

Forest Holme project makes progress

Last Saturday a group of volunteers from Amphibious paid a visit to Forest Holme Hospice to lend a helping hand in freshening up their garden furniture with a well deserved lick of paint. This was part of our ongoing support of the home and in memory of our Bruv Tony Birch who sadly passed away there recently. more...

Our top team step up

The Zetland Court Annual Fair took place last Saturday at the home and in true Amphibious style our top team stepped up to the mark. We ran the skittles alley, which was on loan from the RMA and originally donated to them by Mike Illand.

As always, a large amount of money was raised for the home and residents at Zetland Court, all going towards those extras that they surely deserve. Last year the fair raised over £14k for the Association of Friends who host the event every year. more...

Todnoy - our continued support

Our support for the Todnoy projects, started by the late Tony Birch has always been in the forefront when it comes to charity. Tony started his support for this village over ten years ago and it was agreed when he became ill that we would continue his wish.

Just before Tony passed to the Grand Lodge Above he managed to 'aquire' two bottles of vintage port which were produced to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Royal Marines. more...

Bournemouth Above and Beyond Trust

As mentioned in an article in the Bournemouth Daily Echo a few days ago, our charity for the year is Bournemouth Above and Beyond. A worthy cause who's aim is to 'assist serving and former members of the armed forces of the crown to resettle and rehabilitate into civilian life'.

As Amphibious is primarily made up of military personnel it was felt an apt charity to support. more...

Amphibious manage second runners up

Our team of intrepid quizers took part in the semifinals of the Dorset Masonic Quiz tonight at Kinson Lodge, who acted as hosts for the event. Fighting for the last two places in the final for the Barnes Trophy of Masonic Knowledge were Ashley Lodge, Kinson Lodge and the Lodge of Meridian along with Amphibious.

Five rounds of what proved some very challenging questions were put to all four teams, twenty five in all. more...
