Happy Birthday! Roy Ricketts - 100 today! 

Today Roy Ricketts celebrates his 100th Birthday with his family.

Born on July 13th 1920, in Poole, Roy joined the Ashley Lodge and Freemasonry on Jan 29th 1954 and has been an active member ever since, regularly attending meetings right up to the current Lockdown. A fit and popular member of the Lodge Roy was Master from 1962-1963 and has held active Provincial office in Dorset on more than one occasion. more...

Dorset Freemason in artistic response to Covid19 

Wareham Mason, Malcolm Lewis has come up with a novel way to raise awareness of, and raise funds for the Dorset Community Coronavirus Appeal. Malcom, knowing quite a few artists in the area, has set up an online auction of pieces by them with 25% of the proceeds going to the appeal.

Malcolm, a member of The Lodge of St. Martin, will be holding the auction on Sunday 14 June from 3.00 pm. There are over 120 lots! more...

Dorset Freemasons help Swanage school feed the vulnerable. 

Dorset Freemasons help The Swanage School provide meals for the vulnerable. The Dorset Freemasons Charity (DMC) have provided £1000 of funding to help start up a project by Swanage School. The school are providing healthy and nutritious meals to those most in need in their local area.

Not only has the DMC provided this much needed funding to 'seed' the project but the Dorset Masonic Bikers Chapter plus De Moulham Lodge have played their part too. more...

3D Support to Frontline Workers! 

Andy Belding of Brownsea Island Lodge No 9689 is currently working his 3D printers 24 hours a day to make frames for face shields for frontline workers.

Being an engineer by trade, Andy saw a lot of people discussing about making face shields on number of online engineering and 3D printing forums. The national 3DCrowdUK group was starting to show up with a well thought out design and procedure for assembly and distribution

Steve dons a dark blue apron whilst volunteering at Dorset County Hospital 

Steve Regan from Brownsea Island Lodge No 9689 has been volunteering on the cancer ward at Dorset County Hospital throughout the current Coronavirus crisis.

In quite a remarkable story, Steve was originally hospitalised whilst he was abroad and was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer that resulted in radical surgery where most of his stomach was removed. more...

NHS Supported by Ferndown Lodge 

On a recent visit to Bournemouth Hospital the Immediate Past Master of
Ferndown Lodge, Vic Plowman, was able to present a cheque for
£750 to the Bournemouth Hospital Charity representing £500 for the Bournemouth Hospital Cardiac Department and £250 to the Bournemouth Eye Hospital. This was part of the total of £4500 in donations made from the Ferndown Lodge Benevolent Fund and announced at the last Installation meeting. more...

Fraternal Lodge of Dorset Installation 

This morning Adrian Pearce confidently installed David Smith into the chair of the Fraternal Lodge of Dorset, meeting at Branksome Masonic Hall.

The Provincial Grand Master for Dorset RWBro Graham Raymond Glazier attended the Installation meeting with a full team from the Provincial Grand Lodge of Dorset.

Ferndown Lodge and Dorset Masonic Care in partnership with Air Ambulance donation. 

The Immediate Past Master of Ferndown Lodge was joined by Judy White, wife of the late Roger White at the offices of the Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance in Wimborne to present two cheques to the Charity to the total sum of £1500.

This consisted of a combination of donations in memory of Roger and monies raised by the IPM during his year in office. The total sum included a contribution of £500 from the Dorset Masonic Care charity. more...

Lodge Meeting 17th February 2020 

Bro Sean has overcome many complications since he took his 1st Degree.
Illness and major surgery etc., but he was able to complete his progress and become a MM.
Bro Sean's 3rd Degree continued in the same vein, it was an extraordinary Ceremony to say the least, one could say unique in our history. Many Brethren participated in many ways and Bro Sean was successfully raised to the Sublime Degree of a MM. more...

We had an excellent presentation and film on the work of the 'Pilgrim Bandits' a Charity supporting our injured and mentally ill Armed Services and Blue Light Emergency Services. Pushing them to extremes they didn't think they would ever achieve again. Most interesting work and we were pleased to make a large donation towards it from our Raffle at the Festive Board. more...

Match Funding making a difference of £1500 this week! 

Two Lodges took advantage of Dorset Masonic Cares match funding this week.

Firstly, Northbourne Lodge's donation to Forest Holme was topped by Dorset Masonic Care as part of their Match Funding initiative.

Barrie Hobbs, a Dorset Masonic Care Trustee delivered a cheque for £500 to a representative of Forest Holme to add to the £1000 already presented by Northbourne Lodge earlier this month.

At the February Convocation held on Tuesday the 3rd at Portland those present witnessed an Ensign and Banner lecture conducted by the MEZ EComp Richard Swan and the Director of Ceremonies EComp John Halford, and supported by EComp Roger Hart (Haggai), EComp Bob Turner (Joshua) and many Companions of the Loyal Manor Chapter. WM of 622 is made a Lewis 

Dan Martin the WM of the Lodge of St Cuthberga last night initiated his Dad into Freemasonry in the presence of his Grandad.

January 2020 Regular Meeting 

The end of January and the beginning of February saw two distinct days of contrast for Poole Masonic Hall and the members of The Ashley Lodge.

Freemasons give $150,000 for victims of Australian bush fires 

People who have lost everything in the catastrophic Australian bushfires will be among those to benefit from a grant of AUS$150,000 (£79,000) from Dorset Freemasons to the Disaster Relief Funds set up by Freemasons in Australia.

The grant from the English and Welsh Freemasons' charity will see AUS$50,000 given to the Australian Freemasons' Disaster Relief Funds in each of the three states most affected by the blaze: New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia. more...
