Tercentenary Events

2017 celebrates 300 years of Freemasonry under the English constitution. Listed below are all the events happening in Dorset to mark this historic occasion

De Moulham 150th Celebrations and Banner Dedication

On the 20th March De Moulham Lodge will be celebrating 150 years since it's consecration in 1867. The Provincial Grand Master will be leading a team of Grand and Provincial Grand Lodge Officers at this meeting which will include a rededication of the Lodge banner.

Those that have had the pleasure of visiting Swanage will know that space is limited. Seating will be allocated on a first come first served basis. Please contact the Lodge Secretary for further details.

Provincial Grand Lodge of Devonshire

The Provincial Grand Chaplain of Devonshire will dedicate a new banner which has been commissioned to celebrate our Tercentenary. This will take place on Monday the 10th April at a meeting of the Provincial Grand Lodge of Devonshire.

It will then tour and be passed to all the Provinces in region nine. We will receive it from Wiltshire on the 19th July at the Lodge of Amity and pass it to Somerset on the 9th August at Henstridge.

Blandford Lodges open their doors

For two days commencing the 30th April the Blandford building will be open to the public, in conjunction with Blandford Museum to celebrate the strong association between masonry and the town.

On 9th May there will be a procession led by our Provincial Grand Master, accompanied by a party of very distinguished Brethren in full regalia from the Masonic Hall in Blandford to the Town Hall where a meeting will be held.

It is anticipated there will be a large number of eminent masons from adjoining Provinces at this landmark event

Blackmore Vale celebrate in costume

Brethren attending the regular meeting of Blackmore Vale Lodge on 26th May will be dressed in full costume dating from 1717. There will be a party of Grand and Provincial Grand Lodge officers in attendance led by our Provincial Grand Master. Places are naturally limited for this event, early booking is highly recommended

Tercentenary Car Rally

Throughout 2017 there are a series of car rallies taking place, with one specifically for the South West on the 10th June, starting at the Haines Museum and meandering though Dorset ending at Lyndhurst in Hampshire.

The rally will stop at places of interest throughout the route for refreshments and of course photo opportunities

Sherborne Abbey Celebration

There will be a parade led by the Provincial Grand Master, Grand and Provincial Grand Lodge Officers in full regalia from the masonic hall to Sherborne Abbey on Sunday 25th June where a Provincial Service will be held.

Everyone is welcome to attend this momentous occasion, including all your family and friends so please do come along.

Meridian Raft Race

Sunday 2nd July sees the Inter-Lodge Raft Race in Poole Park organised by Meridian Lodge. All Lodges are invited to enter a team for what is hoped will be an annual event for our Province. Come along and support your scurvy crew beat off all the opposition!

Tercentenary Banner Arrives in Dorset

On Wednesday the 19th July the tercentenary banner will be ceremoniously handed over to Dorset from the Provincial Grand Lodge of Wiltshire at the Lodge of Amity. Teams of Grand and Provincial Grand Lodge Officers led by both our own Provincial Grand Master and RWBro Philip Bullock the PGM for Wiltshire will lead their respective parties in what will be a very unique ceremony

Passing on the Tercentenary Banner to Somerset

A team led by our Provincial Grand Master, RWBro Richard Merritt will meet RWBro Stuart Hadler, the Provincial Grand Master for Somerset and his entourage of Grand and Provincial Grand Lodge Officers on Wednesday 9th August at Henstridge Airfield where the Tercentenary Banner will be handed to Somerset and presentations made to the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance.

MACE Bowls Competition

Dorset have the privilege of hosting the inter provincial bowls competition this year on 4th August at Dorchester Bowls Club. Teams from throughout England and Wales will be competing throughout the day and spectators are very welcome to come along to support your team.

Jurassic Coast Adventure Week

21st to the 25th August is our Jurassic Coast Adventure Week when well over 200 disadvantaged children from all over England and Wales will descend on Weymouth for a host of activities at the PGL holiday centre.

Benevolence 150th Celebrations

The Lodge of Benevolence will be celebrating their 150th anniversary on the 11th September with an official visit by the Provincial Grand Master, accompanied by Grand and Provincial Grand Lodge Officers. As with all our unique venues space is at a premium and will be allotted accordingly

All Souls 250th and Banner Dedication

On Friday the 13th October All Souls will be celebrating their 250th Anniversary and rededicating their Lodge Banner at a special ceremony to be held at the Royal Hotel in Weymouth. Arrangements have been made for partners to dine at the hotel while the Festive Board is being held. There will also be a gala cabaret dinner on the Saturday as the lodge will have exclusive use of the hotel for the whole weekend and has preferential terms for accommodation.
